Common Questions

4 Paws Canine Massage Auckland New Zealand

What can I expect from a treatment?
Our massage treatment will usually go for about 30 minutes.  The first appointment will be approximately 90 minutes as we will need to do a full gait analysis, health check and discussion of what concerns the owner may have with their dog and problems they want to address, the more information we gather the better the outcome.

Treatment time is also dependent on the individual dog and how they respond. If a dog becomes restless then we stop treatment.  Every massage and every client is different so we like to wait and see how the dog responds and we can discuss this going forward how long treatment times will be.

Do I need a referral from my Vet?
Your CMT treatment is performed by a qualified Canine Myofunctional Therapist.  We do not require a vet referral, however if your dog has a medical condition or is taking medication then we will require a vet clearance and we can contact the vet prior to your appointment to discuss your dogs history in detail, and we will always follow up with the vet after we have treated your dog.

Does my dog need to be up to date with vaccinations?
Health and well being is paramount to us at 4 Paws so we would like our clients to be up to date with vaccinations, if they are not we would appreciate that you advise us so that we can take all precautions.

Do you treat all types and breeds of dogs?
Yes we certainly do.  We have a wide variety of clients, all with different problems and we treat them all with the respect that they deserve.  Our job is to help all dogs live their best life!

Will CMT hurt my dog?
No, because we do a comprehensive work up before we commence massage, we know where your dog is sore, therefore we never massage directly on any area that is causing pain or painful to touch.  Your dog should never feel pain from a massage.
